"Daddy, why isn't your clinic on social media like everyone else?"
Just last week I spoke with a physio clinic owner in New Jersey who told me the following:
“Paul, I knew I had to do something when my 13 year old daughter asked why I wasn’t on social media.
It was pretty embarrassing, and I got the feeling she was almost embarrassed for me!”
He went on to tell me that his 13 year old daughter couldn’t understand why so many people were on social media – but her Daddy’s PT clinic wasn’t.
He also told me that he’d known for YEARS that he needed to get more consistent online to get his name out there.
My response?
“I EMPHATICALLY agree”.
When I first started my journey to grow my clinic – The Paul Gough Physio Rooms – social media wasn’t a big thing…
It was getting big … but it hadn’t “popped” yet.
For me, the thing I had to master was my WEBSITE.
Back in 2012/2013, it was all about who had the best website, so I spent a lot of time and money making sure mine was what I STILL call to this day “High Impact”.
A website done right, should do two things:
1. Position you ABOVE your competitors (as an Expert)
2. Get as many people to respond as possible (fill out forms, call you, etc, etc)
After I fixed my website, the next thing I needed to NAIL was “automation”…
Specifically, my MARKETING AUTOMATION.
So, off I went and invested $10,000’s to put in the best marketing automation I could into my clinic to make marketing more successful.
And it worked.
It helped me to scale to FOUR Locations and it meant I could make more but do less.
Then came the rise of social media for businesses….
In 2016, I decided to start “doing some videos” and put them out on social media…
Turns out that a few (thousand!!) people liked my social media stuff and anyway, doing so EXPLODED my earnings.
I went from a few hundred patients per week at my physio clinic, to having 1000’s of clients around the world.
Anyway, the reason I tell this nice little story?
To be successful now, in 2024, you need ALL THREE of these things.
You can’t just “have them” – you’ve got to be SUCCESSFUL at them.
You need the best website you can get that positions you above your dull competitors…
…you need the best social media content (to get that website found)…
…and you need the best automation marketing platform to communicate with all of the people your website and social media bring to you.
It’s a TRIFECTA approach that’s also really SIMPLE.
I call these the ESSENTIALS of marketing and without them, you’re essentially running on quicksand…
No matter how hard you try, or how much you wish it, your marketing AIN’T going to work like you hope.
